Our great friend, pro skier, JL Ratchel flies to L.A from France for the third Toyota road trip. This time the Road trip starts in L.A and goes to Tahoe. JL gets at LAX. The plan from there was to get in the Big Blue Bus (Santa Monica Public Transportation) to my crib in Venice. Lets say that JL is not fluent in English so he walks outside of his terminal and ask a bus driver where the Big blue Blus is to Venice |'venis| (beach town in Cali). The driver says: "this is a big blue bus to Van Nuys |van 'niz| (a residential section of northwestern California). JL thought he mispronounced the name of the city, gets in the bus and calls me: " Man I am stoked I am in the bus to Van Nuys and I haven't paid". Of course, he is in a "fly away" bus which happens to be blue and they charge the riders when they arrive. I am freaking out on the phone, JL get out of the bus NOW, what do you see outside; like if I'd have any idea of where he would have been. He runs to the front of the bus and manage to get out at the last terminal of the airport. He ends up taking a cab to my place with not enough change to pay for the ride. So the cab driver is waiting outside while he steals quarters in a jar at my house.
JL passes out until the next day.
Day 1
Chad from Toyota picks JL and myself, then Ben the filmer in Venice. The Toyota Road trip #3 starts. We're all going to Mt Baldy where 4 complimentary tickets are supposedly waiting for us. As usual, we get stuck in traffic, he took us almost 2 hours to get to the resort. The weather was one of the worst I've ever ridden under. The wind was so strong that you weren't moving going downhill. The trees were covered with ice. No kidding, I was freezing like never before. We did find a line that we rode a couple times with fresh powder but the visibility was so bad that we had to give up. We decided to call it the day around 2pm and drove to Mammoth.
The drive was hectic. The desert was cover with snow. Yes, it was snowing in the desert.
we'll post a video soon
